Mental Health in the Workplace

Office Desk

Many people spend a major part of their lives at work. Here at Apoyo Courses we know how important it is to address mental health at work and help to create a more positive workplace culture.

Almost 15% of people experience mental health problems in the workplace*.

Better mental health support in the workplace can save UK businesses up to £8 billion per year**.

We believe that mental health knowledge is vital and should be openly discussed and supported.  That's why  we deliver mental health courses.

During our courses, we will help people to notice the signs of mental ill health.

We will also encourage them to break down barriers and listen in a non-judgemental way and show how to find the way to get support for recovery.

We want our training to create an understanding that we can all talk freely about mental health and seek support when we need it.

– Mental ill health costs UK employers £34.9 billion each year- the equivalent of £1,300 for every employee in the UK workforce. This figure consists of £10.6 billion in sickness absence, £21.2 bilion in reduced productivity, and £3.1 billion in replacing staff who leave their jobs for mental health-related reasons (Centre for Mental Health, 2017)

– Stress, anxiety and depression are the biggest cause of sickness absence in our society. Work-related stress alone accounted for 45% of all working days lost to ill health in 2015/16 (Health and Safety Executive, 2017)

– 76% of line managers believe they are responsible for employee wellbeing, but only 22% have received training (BITC, Mental Health at Work Report, 2016)
